Rescha SS27

At Paris Men’s Fashion Week, RESCHA’s SS27 collection offered a thoughtful reminder that fashion can be both a study of heritage and an expression of modern identity. Presented at the Musée Guimet in Paris, designer Charlotte Chowdhury’s latest collection, titled Anveshan, a word meaning exploration or search, explored the relationship between Indian textile traditions, personal history and contemporary dressing.

Founded in 2022, RESCHA draws on Chowdhury’s French-Indian heritage to create a design language that feels deeply personal without being confined by convention. For SS27, that perspective found a natural setting in the museum, whose collections of Asian art informed the show’s visual and cultural narrative.

The clothes were defined by fluid silhouettes, considered layering and an interplay of texture. Silk crêpe, chiffon and satin brought movement to oversized shirts, relaxed trousers and softly draped separates. A palette of earthy neutrals was punctuated by warmer shades of pink, orange and yellow, creating a balance between restraint and expression.

The collection’s most compelling details lay in its craftsmanship. Metallic embroideries referenced historic Indian metalwork, while jewellery inspired by Mughal ornamentation added a sense of intimacy and permanence. These elements felt less like decorative flourishes than an extension of the collection’s central idea: that clothing can carry memory forward.

At a time when fashion is increasingly reconsidering the meaning of identity and tradition, RESCHA’s SS27 collection makes a quiet but persuasive case for looking backwards to move forward. It is not heritage as nostalgia, but heritage as a living, evolving language; one that gives contemporary dressing greater depth, nuance and possibility.
