Asparagus SS27

Seoul-based ASPARAGUS, led by designer Myongje Lee, explored the space between opposing forces, where masculinity meets femininity, structure gives way to softness, and protection becomes a form of exposure. Presented at the Palais de Tokyo as part of Concept Korea, the collection felt deliberately unsettled. Deconstructed silhouettes, asymmetrical lines and experimental details challenged conventional ideas of proportion and wearability, moving between the familiarity of streetwear and the more expressive language of avant-garde fashion.

What I found particularly interesting was the tension running through each look. Rather than seeking harmony, Lee allowed contrasting elements to coexist, giving the clothes a sense of movement and individuality. There is a certain confidence in leaving things unresolved, and ASPARAGUS made a case for precisely that.

As Korean fashion continues to find new audiences on the international stage, Lee's SS27 collection stood out for its willingness to question established codes rather than simply follow them. A reminder that sometimes, the most interesting things happen somewhere in between.
