Sinead Gorey AW25
The drizzle outside couldn’t dampen the electric energy at Sinead Gorey’s AW25 show, a masterclass in transforming vulnerability into power. Inspired by the “walk of shame,” Gorey reimagined the trope with razor-sharp tailoring, slinky sequins, and a rebellious spirit that had front-row attendees (myself included) leaning in. I don't know what it is with shows and car parks this season but it felt kind of ...nostolgic, as LFW originally started in a cark park. It is always extremely rewarding seeing independent labels grow each season and this season it was Sinead Gorey's turn for a meteoric rise to the top.
Gorey’s signature subversion was everywhere. Her signature disheveled elegance of crushed velvet dresses with asymmetrical hems, as if thrown on in haste, but cut with precision. Metallics and sheer panels blurred the line between last night’s party and this morning’s aftermath. I loved the sequin trench coats over lace bodysuits. An inspiration I took for my own personal styling at the subsequent Paris Fashion Week. Gorey also embraces textural play utilizing matte wool contrasted with glossy PVC, a nod to the grit and glam duality of urban survival.
Set in a dimly lit venue mimicking pre-dawn streets, models stomped in chunky boots to a soundtrack of distorted synth, a far cry from coy shame. This was a celebration of owning every stumble, smudged eyeliner included. Gorey’s genius lies in her ability to spin a punchline into a lifestyle. AW25 wasn’t just about clothes, it was a middle finger to judgment wrapped in a sequin-encrusted bow. As I dashed to my next show, I couldn’t help but wish my own “walk of shame” looked half this good.
