Keburia SS27
There is something unmistakably London about a collection that refuses to play by the rules. KEBURIA brought its signature eccentricity to London Fashion Week, finding the sweet spot between sharp tailoring, subcultural attitude, and a delicious sense of the unexpected.
Presented at Truman Brewery, the show unfolded with an unapologetic energy. Exaggerated shoulders, architectural collars, abbreviated shorts, and oversized pockets established a silhouette that felt both structured and deliberately undone. British countryside references met Western detailing, with custom jacquards, washed canvas, metallic tweed, and generous fringing adding texture and personality to the mix. My personal favorite was the hand painted equestrian dress.
What made this collection particularly compelling was its tension. Polished tailoring sat alongside barely there proportions, while utilitarian fabrics were elevated through embellishment. A palette of black, cream, khaki, and tobacco was punctuated by flashes of red, turquoise, and metallic finishes. Rhinestone musical instruments and playful insignia brought a welcome touch of irreverence to the more disciplined silhouettes.
Perhaps the most significant development was KEBURIA’s first ever menswear runway offering. Rather than treating menswear as a separate conversation, the collection blurred the boundaries between masculine and feminine dressing, allowing proportion, attitude, and personal expression to take centre stage. The result felt refreshingly unconcerned with convention.
For me, the strength of KEBURIA SS27 lies in its willingness to embrace contradiction. There is refinement, but never restraint for restraint’s sake; drama, without sacrificing wearability; and humor that keeps the clothes from taking themselves too seriously. And of course in true KEBURIA fashion, there is always one political statement piece. This season it was aimed at Putin. It is this interplay between the familiar and the subversive that makes the collection feel so at home in London.
In a fashion landscape that can sometimes mistake minimalism for modernity, KEBURIA reminds us that individuality is still a powerful design language. SS27 is bold, idiosyncratic, and unapologetically expressive, a collection that understands the best dressing often begins where the rules end.
